Mirror on the side of the bed brings good luck

In the last post, I had written that mirror in front of the bed is inauspicious. There were queries regarding whether mirror on the side of the bed towards the leg is permitted in Vastu and Feng Shui.

I have drawn a figure depicted at the end of this post to clarify the various permitted positions of the bed. If the dressing table with a large mirror is on the side of the bed it is considered as auspicious. By the side of the bed here means sharing the same wall as the head board of the bed. This is depicted (in the figure) by the tick mark on the right of the bed on the same wall as the bed.

If the dressing table is adjoining the study table then it becomes difficult to concentrate as the swing between your looks and knowledge gets intensified and on top of it if the mirror comes on the west wall, the kids are always thinking about their impression on the opposite sex and concentration on study becomes difficult.

A mirror on the South wall can make the children very adamant and rebellious.

When a wall or partition separates the bed and mirror such that you cannot see your reflection when sleeping, it is auspicious. One rule of thumb when deciding whether the placement of the mirror with reference to the bed is auspicious or not: if you can see any part of your body in the mirror when you are sleeping on either sides than it is inauspicious if not it is good.

I have a mirror attached behind my bed. That is the mirror is behind my head . SO while sleeping as the mirror is behind my head, I face towards the wall, but not the mirror. Mirror is very big in size. Is this position right ? Please suggest.

According to Vastu and Feng Shui this is not the right position.

However, if you are not finding any problem in your sleep or in the relationship with your partner, you need not worry.

Mirror in my bedroom is on the south wall. Since a mirror on the South wall can make the children very adamant and rebellious I would like to change the position.

You can place it on the North wall if you can place a partition between the mirror and the bed.

In the figure above if you assume the headboard in the East, place a partition between the bed and the North wall and place the mirror in the North East Corner either in the North or in East Wall.

Thank you. But I realized that the entry door to the bedroom is in extreme north-east on the north wall. So, there will be no place for dressing table there. So, can I have it with the wardrobe near the south-west corner. The mirror will face the north wall but not the bed. Will it be o.k.?

Also, my bedroom is in south-east which is not a good direction for couples. I have wardrobes on the south wall and my bed is placed towards the east wall with the headboard in east. I can't change the room. any solutions?

Answer to your first question is Yes. Place it as you suggested. More accurate advise can be given once I do a complete study of a vastu consultation.

If you can'nt change the bedroom do not change it. Directions of your bed and wardrobe is correct

I have a wardrobe which has full mirror on the front side The wardrobe was placed in front our bed,i had problems in my married life also was going under depression.i had misscarriage, sleep problem..Now i moved the position of the bed as it was not possible to move the wardrobe.The wardrobe is now to the left of my bed with the head of bed sharing the wall of wardrobe. .Is this okay.I see my reflection whenever i sleep.Will covering it with curtain help as it is not possible to shift the wardrobe?

Cover the wardrobe during night and when you are sleeping even during the daytime. You can keep the laptop lid closed and desktop's screen covered during this period.

i have placed my bed such way that my head is in south direction when i sleep.one wardrobe is there with mirror in front to my left means in west direction.is it ok?i dont see my reflection there while sleeping.

Hello,

My bedroom is in South West with North East entrance. Currently my bed, wardrobe (on left side) and dressing table (with mirror-on right side) are with South wall. I cannot keep anything of above on west or east walls.

Is direction of my bed correct? Will there be problem due to mirror facing north? any solution?

Yes Head towards South or East.

Ideally the storage should not be there. If no options possible remove all junk things, leather, utensils, old medicine bottles, etc from the storage.

Books (specially text books and religious books should not be a problem

Dear MaaUpamaa,
I have a river& trees photo frame on the wall at the back of my head while sleeping and i would like to know if it is bad or good. Also while sleeping my head is on the south and i face the north. There is a door infron of my bed facing me while sleeping and one each side of my bed means on the left and right side on the same wall of the picture frame. Please advice Maa.

Water images should not be in the bedroom. Remove it. You are sleeping in the right direction no need to change. Door in front of the bed is not a problem

Doors behind on both sides may not be very comfortable but I guess you can't do anything about it.

Hello,

I want to keep photographs of deceased family members. I have heard that they should not be kept in bedroom or pooja room and should be on south wall.

Can I keep it above the entrance door of my bedroom? as it is south wall. Other options I have is near dining table or in living room (which I dont feel appealing ones).

Hello Madam,

I have a doubt. In my house dressing table is in norhwest room which is next to my south west bedroom. The dressing table from other room directly faces my bed. About 2 feet of overlap would be there. Is it ok to have it. Normally we will close the door while sleeping.

Bed can face the door and there is no problem in it. Only the door should not be behing the headboard of the bed.

Does it mean our feet can face any door while sleeping? Because i read in some fengshui books that our feet should not be opposite to door. They say that This position is called dead body position.

I am a Firm believer of all these sciences but the literature avilable confuses everyone.

As per Indian literature facing with your head towards North is called the Dead Body Position.

I agree reading this from books can be confusing that is where proper training and experience helps.

In our bedroom, we have a mirror affixed in the wall to the side of the bed, as you have dipicted in the figure the one which is not sharing the same wall as the head board of the bed. As it is our rented apt we cannot remove it, could you please suggest some solution so that it won't have any bad effect on us.

Solution is to cover it by a curtain and open the same only when you want to use it.

Alternatively you can creat a partition between the mirror and bed as depicted by W in the figure above.

Based on what I understand from your description, the mirror must have a reflection of you when you are sleeping, Is that correct. If so cover it when sleeping

Hi,

We have the master bedroom in south west direction and the headboard of bed is towards south. The wardrobes are on the right side(east wall of the bedroom). Is this positioning good as per Vastu. Also we are considering having full length mirror in the centre of wardrobe. Pls let me know if this direction/position is right for wardrobe and mirror.

I have a showroom at my factory. The factory faces South.

The door to the showroom faces towards the south too (into the lobby area)

I have to place a mirror inside the showroom. It can be placed on any of the four walls (the shoroom is almost a perfect square) .

Can you help me by telling which sall be the most correct wall to place the mirror on? Our business is Women's fashion accessories.

Respected Upma,

My home faces Noth. My home-office is towards South side of the home and the entry door is to the North. I sit on my desk facing East and sometimes North East.

I have been told that a mirror on the East wall, facing west side of the office is good as per Vastu.

Is this correct/auspicious location for mirror?

I have a question regarding the bedroom and puja room?
Our bedroom is in southeast so we would like to partition it by putting a storage chest on the SE corner and the bed after that.Is it correct? If not how we can partition it.
Also we put our puja room in NE. The alignment is such that it, If we put our head in south our feet will face the side direction of puja room. How we can rectify that. Should we sleep by closing the door. Thank you.

Is the mirror on the North Wall of the NW corner or on the West Wall. If it is on North wall, remove it and place it on the West wall of the corner.

Respected Maa Upma,

I am in the process of doing up my new house. In my daughter's bedroom, the headboard would definitely be along the south wall. If it is permitted to also place the dressing table with a huge mirror along the same wall, it would be fantastic. I am hesitant ever since I read about kids turning rebellious if the mirror is on the southern wall. And in doubt after I saw the image favoring a headboard and large mirror on the same wall. Kindly clarify.

The diagram is applicable if the headboard is along the east or west wall in the children's bedroom. In fact for children placing the headboard along the east wall is recommended.

Hi,

I am staying in Rented Apartment and below are the details of the apartment

Door Facing: South East

Master BedRoom: South West

Master Bedroom Attached Bathroom: North West.

Kitchen is: Noth West.

Common Bath room: North.

Dressing Table in Master Bedroom is in adjacent wall to the Bed head Bord and it is just facing Bed room. We keep our money in the bedroom .

Today what ever money I earn it is getting gone like water. Is there any recomendations

i have one query, we r leaving in rented house, home is facing east and back door is facing west (front door & back door r aligned).We have 2 bedrooms,1 is at NE and 2nd is at SW corner.In 2nd bedroom we placed 1 mirror on east wall and my bed is on the same wall, is it good? one more mirror we have at back door,facing west. The problem is in our home some other thing will come and it creates misunderstanding between us. Can you please suggest what is the reason? and how we can come out of that? Could you please tell which direction is best to keep a mirror? I want to know about mirror and its directions, please guide me, so that we can live peacefully.

Hello Ma Upmaji,

In my bedroom, I have placed bed attached to bathroom wall. Bathroom is not in the bedroom. So is it okay to place in such position. My bed position is South east with head pointing towards North and I have a mirror in North east facing towards almirah with mirror. Almirah is in Nort west direction. South west direction is the Bedroom door opening. Is this location correct, please advice.

Dear Upma,

We are a newly wed couple and living in a rented apartment...Here goes our description ..

Bedroom -South East(No Bathroom Attached)
Bed is in East direction with my head pointing towards East.
Wardrobe is in South West corner on a West wall with a mirror and we are not visible in it when we sleep.
Bedroom Entrance - West
Pooja Place - East(We face towards east while doing pooja).

We want to know that this setting is OK or not.

We have house like this. South west room is not possible to make as master bed room. So we made noth west room as bed room. is it ok. If it is ok where we should keep out bed in the room. We have provision in that room to keep the bed from south to north. Or we have to make the south west side room only master bed room?

My bedroom is in the south-west corner of the flat.the head of my bed is against the south wall.there is a large window on the west wall i.e, on the left of the bed.on the right of the bed on the south wall there is a small window which I hardly open.the door to the bedroom is in the extreme corner of the east wall i.e' towards north.next to it on the leftt side is the bathroom's door(right to the bed towards foot of the bed).

Preferably create a wardrobe on the south or west wall. If that is not possible, create it on North wall but ensure that it stores only clothes and nothing else.

Also the color of the wardrobe should not be Black or Blue when it is in the North direction.

You can put the dressing table as per the areas marked in the diagram.

Hi,

I have my bedroom in North-East corner of my West faceing house. Where my bed is in North-East, Steel Almira is in North-West and a Dressing Table is in West in which the mirror facing my bed.

Will you think that if i change the direction of my furniture it will help in building good relations with my wife and support in our saving to make us financially sound ?

In Layout Type A

I would like to change the place of Dressing Table from West to South and for Almira from West to North with opening door towards South instead of East.

My mirror in front of the bed. It is attached to the dressing table and I can cover it by a big bed sheet or by folding the mirrors in wards and covering the fold with a bed sheet? It that ok because it's not possible for me to move the dressing table and it's on the west wall.

If I do that at night would it prevent bad luck?

Hi Uma,

In master Bedroom, I have entire south wall covered with wardrobes.
In my children bedroom, I am having 2 wardrobes on the north Wall as I couldnt place them on north wall. In between the two wardrobes I have a window.

Also my adjacent hall also has north wall which is free.

Rest all other things are done as per vastu. Is that 100% fine. Or will I face any issues. I am already facing lot of issues in life and do not want to take any risk. I am ready to take your private consultation. Please suggest.

Hi Maam,

I have a dressing table(with mirror) on the east wall of my master bedroom. It is to the right side of my bed but not sharing the same wall as that of the head side of the bed. Hello,

I have few queries regarding my bedroom.
Ours is a rented flat and we have our Bedroom at the North West.
The headboard of our bed is in the east and we place our head in the east while sleeping. Our Dressing Table with Mirror is sharing the same wall with the headboard of the Bed.
I have placed steel almirah on the south-west corner of the room. The doors are opening in east. Is this correct or I should change the direction of the almirah doors such that they open in the North? Kindly suggest. Recently we suffered from a theft in our Old house and thus have shifted into a new one.

I had a mirror in my bedroom where we could see our image while sleeping so I covered it as suggested by a friend . Now we are planning to buy a wardrobe and the wardrobe door is glass not mirror.

So I am not sure if glass is ok or even that is not permitted in front of bed.
