Kitchen Vastu

As per Vastu Principles, the location and direction of Kitchen has a bearing on the health and wealth of the members of the household. Kitchen also plays a significant role in ensuring family harmony.

Neverthless, not all homes may have kitchen conforming to all the principles of Vastu, even when you are making a house from ground up confoming to Vastu tenets. The reason is that there are always space constraints when designing a house. Moreover, due to modern trend of staying in flats and apartments in multi-storied buildings it is further more difficult to have a kitchen which conforms to vastu principles.

In this post, I have listed down what are the Vastu defects and if you are one of those who are facing a problem in life due to this you may opt for a Vastu consultation.

Kitchen above or below a toilet/bathroom is one of the most severe Vastu defect.
The kitchen and toilet should not share the common wall. Both these defects have a direct bearing on the health of the residents.
The kitchen should never be situated in the North East or North as this adversely effect one's career.
Kitchen should not face the main door of the house.
The temple or Pooja room should not be above the kitchen sink or stove as it bring bad luck and drains wealth.
The kitchen and bathroom door should not be opposite to each other.

Hope this knowledge helps you in planning of placements as per the tenets of vastu.

Hi Ma Upma,
This is really useful information. Please clarify , if I have kitchen in the ground floor and guest room on the first floor, just above the kitchen, but the bath room shares the wall with the guest room. Will this be treated as sharing the bath room wall with the kitchen also?

Hi Ma Upma,

In my house the kitchen and bathroom doors are side by side and they share the same wall. The bathroom is however not being used from the time we have shifted to this house. Is their anything i can do so that it does not affect us the wrong way.

Also please suggest which direction is good to place the gas stove. This blog really us. Thanks

Hi Ma Upma,

In my house the kitchen and washroom (used only to clean utensils) walls share each other. Is this ok since we are not going to use the washroom as bathroom Will this effect in the worng way. Plesae clarify.

the kitchen platform is fixed east to south and the zink is in east side and the chimney is in South side in my flat. According to this, cooking has to be done facing South.I am told Cooking facing South is harmful.How to set right this in flats (as the builder is not ready to change the kitchen platform at their cost). Is there any remedy to solve this without breaking the Granite platform.

Please install a Vastu Dosh Nivarak Yantra on the kitchen wall which adjoins the bathroom and also install a 3 X 3 grid of crystal pyramid on this wall .

i am moving to new flat. we have two bedroom and one maid room with attached toilet. can we use maid room as prayer room. please suggest me a good place. or i can keep prayer room in kitchen room itself.
