Myths about Reiki # 1: It is Touch Therapy

One of the most common myth about Reiki in the minds of those who are uninitiated to its powers, it that Reiki means Touch Therapy. When I tell people that I am a Reiki Master I keep hearing cases when they saw a therapist treating a patient with his hands placed on the forehead of the person.
Reiki is in fact much more than touch therapy. Healing through touch is the first part of the Reiki practice. Its actual powers can be realized when you go through its second course and are attuned to the symbols associated with the second course.
After the second course in Reiki, the practitioner is attuned to perform Distant Reiki. With distant Reiki you can transmit the Reiki Energy to a person remotely. What it implies is that now the therapist can cure a patient sitting across nations and continents.
There have been umpteen cases where I have cured patients sitting in different cities using Distance Reiki. Specifically my mother, brother and sister-in-laws keep on asking for Reiki to cure their normal ailments.
In my next post I will de-mystify yet another myth on Reiki.
God Bless!
