5 Step Process to reach your objectives

I was reading this powerful book “The Monk who sold his Ferrari” by Robin S. Sharma. It is a fabulous fable written by Robin to teach the western world some of the fundamentals of Indian philosophy. I was reading it again to find out if there is any similarity in what Robin says and what I advise my clients based on my learnings. In this book he describes the 5 step process to reach your objective and fulfill the purpose of your life. Here is the summary of the practical process he professes. It is simple, practical and it works.
Step 1: Create a mental picture of the outcome
Form a clear mental image of the outcome. If the objective is to lose weight, every morning just after you wake up, envision yourself as a lean, fit person, full of vitality and boundless energy. The simple act of “picturing” will open the gateway to the actualization of this desire.
Step 2: Get some positive pressure on yourself
Pressure can inspire you to achieve great ends. People generally achieve great things when their back is against the wall. To create a positive pressure on yourself, make a public pledge. Tell everyone you know that you will lose excess weight or quit smoking or whatever your goal might be. Once you make your goal known to the world, there will instantly be pressure on you to work towards its fulfillment since no one
likes to look like a failure.
Step 3: Never set a goal without attaching timeline to it
To breathe life into a goal you must attach a precise deadline to it. Create a dream book and paste pictures showing actualization of your goals and images of people who have cultivated the abilities, talents and qualities that you hope to emulate. For example, if the goal is to lose weight paste a picture of a sprinter or an elite sportsman in your dream book. Then review this book daily even for a few minutes. Make it your friend. The results will startle you.
Step 4: The Magic Rule of 21
For a new behavior to crystallize into a habit one has to perform the new activity for 21 days in a row (I suggest to my clients that it should be for 40 days in a row). This visualization should be practiced at the same time everyday and also the same place this helps it quickly grow into a habit it will get inserted into your routine.
Step 5: Enjoy the Process
Make sure that you have fun while you are advancing on the path to your goals and purpose. Never forget the importance of living with unbridled exhilaration. Stay focused on your lifework and on giving selfless service to others. The Universe will take care of
everything else. This is one of nature's truest laws."
"And never regret what has happened in the past?" A burning sense of passion is the most potent fuel for your dreams.
If you are sufficiently excited and inquisitive to know more you can read the complete book. Best Wishes!!
