Symbolic Fengshui professes that seeing a happy face is inductive. It brings happiness and happy disposition to the one who sees happiness. Remember the saying "Smile is inductive". Laughing Buddha is always laughing and is always happy.
On your desk place the laughing Buddha such that you are seeing it while working from a corner of your eyes such that you remain happy and at the same are not distracted.
Those who do a lot of negotiation or dispute resolution/grievance handling should also place a big Happy Buddha on the desk behind them in such a manner that the person sitting in front of you sees it prominently when entering your office, approaching your desk, and from a corner of the eye sees it when talking to you.
Just try it and see the difference. You will be amazed at the power of symbolism.
