Ganesha in Vastu

Category: Vastu
I saw a lot of people searching for the phrase ‘Ganesha in Vastu’ hence thought of sharing my knowledge and experience on the use of Ganesha figurines and paintings in Vastu. What better time to write on Ganesha in Vastu than the 10 day long Ganpati festival ending on 25th September, 2007
Ganesha is a symbol of prosperity and profound knowledge and is believed to be destroyer of all obstacles which come in our way in our undertakings.
Ganesha should be installed on the top of the entrance of the house to deflect all negative energies and to remove the Vastu defects of wrong position of the entrance. However, when you install a Ganesha idol on the entrance above the door frame, you must ensure that they are installed in pair and back to back on both sides. It is believed that Ganesha is always accompanied by his two wives Riddhi (Prosperity) and Siddhi (Knowledge) and poverty resides behind his back. If you just install one Ganesha Idol facing outside at the entrance its back will have your abode and you do not want poverty inside the house. Hence it is recommended to install Ganapati, back to back at the entrance.
Similarly, when you install an idol or painting in the house, place it next to an external wall and not next to a wall that separates two rooms of the house. Ganesha can face the North direction as he is happy if he is facing North which is the abode of his father – Lord Shiva.
Most importantly you should take care that Ganesha is not made of broken pieces of wood, leaves, either in idol or in a painting. The first figure with this post shows Ganesha made of disjoint leaves, which should not be used. The second figure shows Lord Ganesha made of leaves but joined with one another. Avoid abstract paintings of Ganesha. Like all abstract paintings, they are not recommended as per Vastu.
One last advise on this topic; do not install Ganesha with the trunk to His right.
Non-hindus can also use Lord Ganesha as a Vastu cure. However, you must ensure that He is properly revered and respected by all members of the family, kept clean and in a clean surrounding.
God Bless!!

Some one told me me earlier that if your main door is facing South, they should install Ganesha above door frame inside facing north and lord Hanuman above door frame outside facing south.
Thank you

Ganesha's trunk facing right is definitely not incorrect. Only such a figurine should be placed in temples where it is worshipped daily.
Ganesha figurine which has trunk facing right when placed in the home should be worshipped daily without fail. If you can do it go ahead. As you seem to be a Ganesha devotee you will agree with this logic.

I offer to Lord Shiva on Mondays. And, have a wooden statue of Lord Ganesha that I am trying to figure out where to place. My apartment is located on the north-east corner of the building. And, my door opens facing east. How should I position my Lord Ganesha statue ?
Also, I currently have my image of Lord Shiva facing north, with his lingam pointing directly to him. Would you happen to know if this is correct ?
Thanks for the help.
Regards.

Our house is facing north and till recently had
a. one ganesh facing west
b. three ganesh idols facing north
c. few ganesh pictures facing east.
Each of them is not at the extreme end of the house fixed to the wall or in a shelf, however in many places in the middle of the house
One of my friends suggested the following :
a. The ganesha facing west is now being changed to face north and there are no rooms behind his back.
b. three ganesh idols is now being packed and to kept only during dussehra for the doll festival (famous in the southern part of india)
c. few ganesha pictures - they are being removed and with thanksgiving being put in running water
d. we propose to put two ganesha's back to back at the entrance (as is similarly expressed by you).
e. there was a ganesha in the office whose back was the room of the promoer of the co. now I have changed it and is now facing east. the back is now - leads to the open air outisde
Please advise me on the above if it is ok and if you wish to make any changes/or offer anysuggestions.
Thanks
Raghu

You can place Shiva facing South and Ganesh facing North. Shivaling can be in between the two. No problem.

You can follow all the suggestions given by a friend. Always remember when you do anything related to religion it should be done with full trust. Seeking suggestion from many people on the same topic will dilute the trust and will not give the desired results.

Please the Ganesha on the Southern wall facing North.
