Indian Science of Medicine – Ayurveda is benefiting several muslim woman who wear burqas (an enveloping outer garment worn Islamic women as per Islamic tradition and for the purpose of cloaking the entire body). Since Islam requires woman to wear this for long hours, it is important that the fabrics used are free of toxins.
In a news reported in Times of India (Ayurvedic Burqas a rage in Saudi Arabia), it has been reported that thousands of burqas made by using Ayurvedic principles and using natural cottons and colouring are exported from the southern Indian state – Kerala to Arabic and Western world. In Ayurveda these natural fabrics are called Ayurvastra. In Sanskrit Ayur means life and vastra means clothing. These clothes are also treated with medicinal herbs to improve the healing value.
